Sweet ’16: January

Charlie and I are determined to finish up the renovation in 2016.

We’ve come so far and only have a few major projects left.

We have the name of a shower glass installer -- that's the next important detail.

Both our stamina and finances are willing to push through to the end.

The light I'm holding in the picture will replace the one hanging on the wall in the conservatory.

I have a rough outline for the first half of 2016 which I’m holding close to the vest.  Instead I’m laying out January right here:

The conservatory vanity should be finished today.

  1.  Shower glass.
  2.  Finish vanities.
  3.  Hang bathroom lighting fixtures.
A quote from yesterday's email: "The order is on track for shipping this week. The vendor is waiting on receiving and inspecting the items. I apologize, the holidays have delayed the shipping."

This doesn’t seem like much of a list but since it’s dependent on outside sources we don’t have total control.

Do you like leaving things to others? Or being in total control.

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.
