This window gets a louvered shutter on the bottom half.
The tenant decided that two windows in particular should not have curtains; instead only the lower portion of these two windows should be covered with shutters.
The window in in the middle of the wall is the kitchen window.
The kitchen window is high off the ground on the rear side of the Cottage so it doesn’t need to be totally covered.
This window looks into the laundry.The same window from inside the Cottage.
The other window is in the laundry area.
The Cottage laundry window is to the left of the file cabinet.
It, too, only needs half-coverage because it is in a hidden area.
I have a pile of old shutters that would need rehab and paint
This week the contractor is supposed to install these shutters which I presume he will purchase new.

We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house.
Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.

Great idea to use shutters on those two windows as long as your tenant feels that she will have enough privacy when she wants it. I like having cafe curtains for the same reason, even when I have long panels on the sides of the same window.
Even without shutters the kitchen window is virtually unable to look in through and it faces the uninhabited woods. The laundry window on the other side of the Cottage is already partially obscured but I also would definitely want a partial covering just in case someone is getting wood from the wood shed. Jo
Shutters resurfaced definitely! However, I saw a comment implying this is a rental and being honest I would not sink money into it and it could (will) be more obviously for resurfaced shutters than curtains! Your neighbors at Napa Valley’s Custom Renovations!
I thought of getting shutters for my living room, installed tier on tier so I could close just the bottoms. That said, I haven’t put anything on my rear downstairs windows yet and even with other houses 5-25 feet away I don’t care
Most of my windows have no coverings because they mostly overlook woods and our nearest neighbors are well out of sightlines. If someone were trespassing they might get an eyeful. Jo
Shutters! It’s a cleaner look, especially in the kitchen. A person would have to try awfully hard to look over the top–more power to them! We have been living with no curtains on our 13-ft dining room windows while I work on the painting. The sidewalk is right outside. Bah! I don’t care! 🙂
