Fiesta Menu

We’re having a bridal shower with a South of the Border theme.

All the ladies of the church have been invited.

All the invitations have been distributed so we’re planning for people to come and enjoy.

The party colors are: yellow, orange, red, pink, blue, and green. Oh, and pink.

The menu also will reflect the theme:

  • Jamon y melon — honeydew or cantaloupe

    Honeydew melon wrapped in ham.
  • Queso — Velveeta, cream cheese, Rotel OR Trader Joe’s
  • Tomatoes, cheese, and herbs on skewers

We’ve tried something similar in the past.
  • Tortilla chips (homemade) and salsa, taco dip, mango salsa

A plate of tortilla chips is popular: some with salt and pepper others with cinnamon sugar.
  • Taco bar: Grilled chicken, tortillas, jack cheese, avocado, sour cream, lettuce, lime, onion, black beans

A taco bar will be similar to the salad bar we set up at our last party.
  • Spanish rice (provided by guest hostess)
  • Tres Leches cake with mango and strawberries

This Tres Leches cake was made for my birthday by the chef at my job.
  • Sparkling water (seltzer) and lemon/lemon balm, Glade Fizz
  • Iced tea, green tea, cucumber water, and coffee

I just found out that the bridesmaids will be wearing red dresses in the wedding.  What did your wedding party wear?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.
