Glass Tiled Backsplash in the Conservatory

Back in November I posted our progress in the conservatory bathroom.

Bookshelves in the bathroom

At that time we still needed to build the rustic shelves in the niche behind the shower.

The conservatory sink will get a backsplash that matches the shower tile.

One of the main jobs remaining that we felt we had neither the time or patience to tackle was the backsplash behind the vanity for which we had tile from the original shower installation.

The space behind the Ikea sink and faucet is about 43 inches wide.

With instructions from me Charlie told him I wanted 2 courses of glass “Snow Frost” 3″ by 6″ subway tile.

The penny tile listello row matches the one in the shower.

Top that with 4 rows of multicolored glass penny tiles just like in the shower enclosure.

The finished backsplash will matches the tile in the shower enclosure.

The top is finished with another row of glass subway tile.

The new backsplash echoes the band of color in the shower and protects the wall behind the sink.

Good progress was made in the morning.

I like that the backsplash ends above the high-profile spigot.

All the tile in the conservatory bathroom was in place.

The tile still needs to be grouted with white grout.

The adhesive will dry overnight and then the tile will be grouted.

Are you planning a spring project? DIY? Outsourced?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.
