Rug Switcheroo in The Cottage

The Cottage has been inhabited for about 4 months.

There have been lots of changes in that short time and more are planned.

In the beginning there was only a remnant of carpet in The Cottage.

We went shopping for rugs back in October and found the ones in this post.

The bright aqua rug needed to be replaced.

Unfortunately on that buying trip we didn’t look at a runner to replace the old remnant that was covering the floor between the bedroom area and the living room area.

The runner was added to span the "hall" between the bed area and sofa area.

The tenant finally decided to get a runner that matched the denim-colored rug to cover the space.

The aqua rug has been relegated to the back of The Cottage near the bathroom/laundry area.

The aqua remnant was repositioned back near the floating wall.

Do you have vintage rugs?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.

  1. The runner looks good! I’m glad she was able to find one that matches. I’m so glad the Cottage is coming into its own.

  2. It’s hard to have vintage rugs when you live with cats. Cats love puking on rugs. But we do have 1 vintage rug, in the girl cave, but it’s usually rolled up and put in the corner so I don’t get paint or glass on it. Love the runner!
