In Preparation

I cleared the way for our new bench to be delivered. (It was supposed to come on Monday but arrived yesterday after a lot of miscommunication with the freight company.)

Eventually the conservatory will be transformed.

I moved one of the loveseats out of the conservatory to make room for the bench.

This loveseat actually fits well in the dining room.

The only free space was in the dining room in front of the wall adjacent to the kitchen.

This is a comfortable, well-lit spot to work on the computer or read.

Eventually I will get rid of one or two loveseats but I’ve been having my morning coffee in this one for a few days now.  It’s very convenient.

For now the bench is in the middle of the room.

It’s going to stay in this position at least until after our party in early March. We can never have too much seating during a party, especially near the food table.

How happy would you be to clear out some old clutter?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.

    1. I like it very much but it surely does not go with the old loveseat style which is more quaint. The change I’m picturing is more light and airy, and a little more sophisticated. Jo

  1. I think the new look for the conservatory will be nice. Does it play well with the new chair or might you paint it darker? Either way it’s quite a change for that room. It will make a nice transition to the outdoors.
