Looking for a Vintage-Style Lampshade

I went shopping for a new lampshade.

The vintage all-in-one table and lamp could use a new shade.

Unfortunately a suitable shade for the lamp in the photo above was not to be had.

The shades are only 10 inches tall.

My first stop was Home Goods which always has a good supply of attractive lamps but the 14-inch-tall barrel shade is just out of fashion right now.

So cute but not really what I'm after.

I was also on the hunt for pink and burgundy items.  I’m sure, however, we wont need Lucite and pink fur vanity stools.

On my way out of the store I saw a great looking grey chair with upholstery tack detail. I might have to find a place for it.

Then, still looking for a lamp shade, I headed over to Ross. What lover of burgundy wouldn’t love this little red alligator storage chest — 14″ by  30″ — for only $40?

I went home empty-handed.  This time.

Are you searching for a special item?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.
