Curtain Trio

I’m trying to decide on curtains for our current project.

These curtains have been well-appreciated and are now passé.
These curtains have been well-appreciated and are now ready to be updated.

We’ll be changing out blue silk tie backs and sheers for something lighter and in the burgundy family.

This romantic room is certainly the style of our friend.

This photo is my inspiration.

The Ingmarie curtains will make charming shades peeking behind lace curtains.

The flowered curtains by Ikea are called Ingmarie.  I plan to use them to cover the roller shades.

Then a light layer of lace in place of sheers.

The light greige curtains are textured plisse.

Finally I’m hoping the curtains I dyed for my living room will look better in this romantic, creamy room.

How do you decide on curtains?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.

    1. We are trying to let form follow function so everything will work together for years to come but getting some pushback. Of course, I’ll let you know if we succeed or not. Jo

  1. Curtains are a nightmare to choose! I use to have the floral lace curtains from Ikea in a previous apartment and I loved them (so did my cat unfortunately).
I just noticed that I wasn’t getting any updates from your blog anymore, so I re-suscribed!

  2. Designing for someone else is hard. Almost anything will be an improvement! If she’s attached to the blue silk, can you use it to make a few couch pillows? I like the Ikea floral … simple is always better.
