The Froggie Knocker

The conservatory bathroom door is painted.

I'm going to use the green frog in the conservatory.

It was easy, therefore, to hang up my door knocker that looks like a frog.  Actually I have two similar ones with different finishes.

I chose the verdigris knocker and simply screwed it into the door with some short drywall screws.

The foot that leans on the door has a little piece of felt attached.

Unfortunately the froggie’s little foot that actually makes the knocking sound was also damaging the new paint so I stuck a tiny piece of self-adhesive felt furniture pad on his foot.

The frog knocker gives the large door a little decoration.

He’s more quiet and less destructive now.

Do you have a door knocker on any of your doors?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.

  1. He’s so wonderful. I have a darling garden claw or maybe you’d call it a hand fork that I have on my front door. It was very appropriate for me and I was so glad I had a wood door so I could put it up.

    1. Well, my conservatory is a casual spot in shades of green so I picked the green one. A silent door knocker is a poor design indeed. I might just be a little fussy since I just painted the door. Jo
