My Christmas Theme 2016

When Charlie was given the wooden toys made from wood scraps they included bears.

Can you pick out the bears?

I thought I could turn these bears into polar bears which gave me a theme for Christmas decorations this year.

A few polar bear projects.

I searched Pinterest for other polar bear décor and came up with very little useful stuff but there were some fun things. (My Pinterest Christmas Board.)

How cute are these guys?

There were some very cute white-iced gingerbread cookies. I’m not much of a cookie maker.

I am inspired by the white-painted branches stuck into the Christmas tree.

There also was a polar bear themed tree which I don’t think I’ll be able to pull off but it certainly carries the theme to the nth degree.

I particularly like the polar bear marshmallows for hot chocolate.

A proud polar bear.

I really like this polar bear poster which can be customized.

What’s your theme this year?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.

  1. i like those white branches tucked into the tree… that’s a cool idea! and those cookies are annoyingly evenly frosted… how’s that even possible? i could spend 8 years trying to make those and they’d never look that perfect. i don’t have a theme. i’m lucky if i decorate at all! not my favorite holiday.
