New Accessory for the Cottage

The actual “living room” in Glade Cottage is a very contained space.

A small piece of furniture in front of the sofa is needed.

The large Ikea sofa has a lounge on one side which takes up a considerable amount of room.

If two people are on the sofa only one can “put her feet up”.  Coincidentally I saw a small, round, cranberry-colored ottoman on Craigslist. (I was looking for a different style ottoman for the conservatory.)

The ottoman was described as burgundy but goes well with the cranberry accents.

This storage ottoman can also act as a small coffee table since the top cushion, when turned upside down, becomes a tray.

The little ottoman is a nice addition to the Cottage furniture.

So cute we can’t keep our feet off it.

What was your recent happy accident?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.

  1. Perfect! The cottage is looking better and better! Your aqua and cranberry color scheme inspired me to buy a new paisley scarf in those colors. Love the combo.
