The Wool Anniversary

This month Charlie and I celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary.

We were married right in front of the fireplace way before the renovation.

The seventh is represented by two different traditional gifts: copper and wool.

I couldn’t think of anything either of us would want made from copper although I might pull out our few copper décor items just for fun.

And Charlie doesn’t wear sweaters (even though people continue to gift him with them). So I decided to get us matching wool items from Ikea.

I plan to wiggle my toes every morning in the wooly rug.

I bought 2 sheepskins (at $30 each), one for each side of our bed so we can jump out onto cozy rugs.

And I might give him a shiny copper penny.

What is your favorite anniversary gift?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.

  1. Happy Anniversary to both of you! What a great reason to buy yourself a nice present. I might have to do that for our next wedding anniversary. 😉 I love the copper teapot too.
