Labor Day Project

I just can’t decide what to get involved in today.

A rectangular table in the kitchen uses the space better. This prototype gives me an idea of the correct dimensions.

I can start designing and making a new kitchen table.

Loads of frames.
Loads of frames.

I can organize picture frames and match them up with glass.  I can get rid of broken items and rearrange artwork.

My side of the closet is almost clear.

Or I can clear out the closets in the bedroom and conservatory in anticipation of having the floors installed.

I hope I get inspired and energized. Maybe I should just prioritize.

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.

  1. You have lots to choose from. Just start something. If you list the punch cups, that’s done and seems like it would be quick and easy to do. I’ve gotten lots done outside – need to get busy organizing clothes for my trip and haul out the suitcase.
