Having Trouble

We’ve been having trouble finding someone to install our floors.

This team did flooring from start to finish.

Hoping to get the same group that laid our kitchen floor.

We have a lot of shutters. Ugh.
We have a lot of shutters. Ugh.

We’re also having trouble getting things finished like the shutters that need to be scraped, and painted, and rehung.

We've made some headway but there's still plenty of stuff that must go.

And we’re having trouble getting our junk out of the Cottage so our friend can work on her renovation.  Her house goes on the market soon so I know she’d like to have it cleared out.

We'll be bringing the trim back into the house very soon.

After the floors are installed I think we’ve found the right guy to install the baseboards and finish the door and window casings.

Sigh.

Birthday flowers.
Birthday flowers.

One thing I’m having no trouble with is wishing my sister a great  birthday.

Are you having trouble with something or someone?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.
