More Craigslisting

I got rid of some large construction clutter  yesterday by listing it on Craigslist.

These partial pieces of drywall will easily fit in almost any vehicle.

We were left with partial sheets of wallboard which I described in a separate ad.

When the bit of drywall are gone from against the front wall of the Cottage it will be easier to get things in and out.

We received a number of responses which will effectually clear out the chards of drywall in the cottage.

There are two each of the round shades and only one of the squarish one on the top right.

I also listed 7 large lampshades which I have replaced with different shapes on the lamps in the house.  Lamp shades, due to their size and shape, are difficult to store.

These cone-shaped shades would be easy to update.

These, too, are highly sought after.

I've done a lot of work at this table over the years.
I’ve done a lot of work at this table over the years.

I want to figure out something to do with my drafting table that I’ve had since college.  Maybe it will stay in the Cottage and maybe move back over to the house. The table needs a good cleaning.

The cement exterior wall shingles don't take up much room but are very heavy.

And Charlie is going to move the extra wall shingles and roof shingles to a spot in the crawl space under the house.

The water heater in The Cottage needs to be replaced.

I’m getting closer the ability to have a plumber come out to replace the hot water heater and repair the propane heater and any other little plumbing jobs that are beyond our ability.

A pile of roof shingles also is going under the house in the crawl space.

In addition to the above items the Cottage also houses:

  • the interior wood trim for the house,
  • our large power tools,
  • paints and supplies,
  • old doors removed from various doorways in the house,
  • and some odd furniture.

I’m working on it.

Does your clutter spot get overwhelming?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.

  1. You are well on your way, Jo! Replacing that old water heater will give you an immediate lift every time you look at the new one. I was planning on getting lots done this month but life has certainly gotten in the way. I sure hope things smooth out a little this next month.
