Getting Closer

We’ve finally cleared up the sinks on the master bedroom floor.

We stored the top of the vanity on our bedroom floor.

They’ve been lying there for a couple of months. Out of the way but not very convenient.

The plumbing under the sinks was set before installation.

The Viking came over one evening only having enough time to plumb the underneath of the master sinks.

The vanity top is extremely heavy.

Charlie and the Viking each took a side and carried the unbelievably heavy marble top with 2 integrated sinks into the bathroom and lifted it onto the vanity which he had installed earlier in the year.

The trim still need to be put in place but now I can hang a towel bar on the side of the vanity and also hang the mirrors.

Having the top in place will allow me to get to a few other projects that I didn’t want to tackle until this task was complete.

Are you tackling a new project?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.

  1. Wow, that’s great! I had forgotten that the sinks weren’t installed yet. It looks great and I bet it’s wonderful to have them up where they belong.

    1. We’ve been using the shower in the new bathroom and the sink in the old one. Can’t wait until they’re hooked up. Jo
