Saturday Potpourri

Early in the morning I started a pot of potpourri on the back of the stove.

Oranges, rosemary, and vanilla bean.

This time I substituted oranges for lemons.

We met a nice young sales representative at our local Lumber Liquidators.

Then Charlie and I rode out to Lumber Liquidators to look at the unfinished red oak flooring.

It was much like the flooring we had installed in the new sections of the house except the finish was a little rougher. We got a quote for the conservatory floor but intend to look at a few more places before we make a decision.

Just next door to Lumber Liquidators was a Party City where we stopped to buy plates, napkins, and cups for next week’s party.

Finally we went to the Timberland outlet to buy shoes for Charlie and me that we could hike and ride mules when we get to the Grand Canyon this fall.

Have you had experience with discount flooring stores?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.

    1. It wouldn’t be unheard of that we accidentally leave something on the stove. Our signal is that we leave on the over-the-stove light until everything is turned off and put away. Jo
