A Clean Sweep: 2016 in Glade Cottage

Before anything else:  HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CHARLIE!!  Have a wonderful day and a super-charged year.

Now onto blog business: I renamed our to-do list for  Glade Cottage from the sub-Master list to a clean sweep. The idea of the clean sweep was to get a jump on projects for 2013 2014 2015 2016 in the Cottage.

Glade Cottage

The goal is to make the Cottage liveable, that is, clear out all the in-progress projects, clear out extraneous furniture, have all the systems (heating, plumbing, air conditioning, etc.) working optimally.

In addition to furniture and tool storage, The Cottage holds future projects like the French garden chairs.

I had been thinking we might rent the cottage or use it ourselves during the renovation of the house.  Now I have a new marvelous but potentially risky idea that includes the Cottage.  I’m keeping it under wraps for the moment.

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.

  1. Nice refurbushes…especially the lamp and the tables and chairs…great pattern on the coverings. You are clicking right along and checking off that list! Oh, and Happy Birthday…a day late…to Charlie!
