Sweet ’16: February

Yesterday I updated January’s to do list.

The sub-floor in the conservatory needs to be planked.

Today I’m laying out what we’d like to accomplish in February in addition to finalizing the January list.

New red oak flooring
New red oak flooring that was installed in the kitchen.

I’d like to purchase and install the rest of the floors in the new spaces. The conservatory needs 238 square feet of red oak. The bedroom closet and hall needs 145 square feet of pine.

The conservatory furniture will have to move into the dining room while the flooring is being put down.

Unfortunately all the furniture and other stuff will need to be taken out of the conservatory and conservatory closet.

Unfinished wood flooring.

I’m not sure this can be accomplished before my tea parties but there’s a slim chance if I have purchased everything the floor could be laid. But it also would need to be sanded and polyurethaned.

The French doors in the master bedroom need a threshold to make the transition from the floor to the door sill and to block air coming up through the floor.

Along those same lines I want to add some thresholds to doorways that had been changed and still have a gap.

Our harwood floors are finished with Samson's SamSeal Professional urethane in satin finish.

And that’s it. Too ambitious, you think?

What are you planning for February?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.
