I’m Looking for . . .

Now that the master bathroom is almost finished

We used to call this the desk, now it's a dressing table.

and my dressing table is in place,

A $45 purchase on Craigslist is a possibility.

I’m on the hunt for a vanity bench. I’ve looked on Etsy, at the Model Furniture Outlet, at Home Goods, on Craigslist. I’ll also check some local antique and resale shops.

This is a pretty Queen Anne chair but not convenient for the bathroom.

I had been using a chair but it’s too unwieldy in the bathroom.

This little beauty is $575. Whoa!

I would like a Queen Anne style leg and not too large so it can go completely under the vanity when not in use. Of course I don’t want to spend much.

This bench is in my office thus the boxes of paper and files.

I took a couple of photos at work of the benches we have there. (Not that they’re giving them away but just to give an idea.)

This small stool would be perfect.

The more compact one would be better.

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.
