Let’s Plan a Tea Party

A year ago (in fact for the past 3 years) I was planning a tea party.

We'll certainly use my pink flowered tea plates.

I kept hoping SOMEONE would actually have one for me but since it never happened I’ve decided to get busy myself.

This lovely gold ceramic teapot, though perfect for making tea, will be used for decoration this time around.

I’d like to invite all my friends but at the same time keep the gathering intimate.  So instead of having a tea party I’m going to have two parties on consecutive weekends. The menu will stay the same, only the names will change.

Respondez s'il vous plait means please respond -- let us know if you're coming or not.

Normally when I send out an invitation I don’t ask for a response but this time I’d like to get an idea of how many ladies will be attending.

I don't want people to have to dress us but pearls are always appropriate.

Here’s the invitation.

I'm hoping to find a local creator of beautiful petit fours since I certainly don't have time.

Next I’ll be finalizing the menu.

Do you have favorite tea foods?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.

  1. I’ve never been to a tea party. I laughed to myself when I thought that my new favorite food, buffalo chicken wings, would probably not be on the menu. 🙂 You dishes are lovely. Heirlooms?

    1. If petit fours are going to be available, Valentine’s Day is the time. I have a baker pricing some up for me. I’m also going to stop into a couple of grocery store bakeries for comparison. Jo
