Clearing Up a Bit

I may have mentioned before that Charlie likes to fill any cleared horizontal surface with stuff.

Why would anyone think there's something in here I want to save?

When he neglected to let the vanity unpackers take way the wrappings, they ended up for a while on the dining room table under the ruse that I might want them.

I have plans to refinish this table in some way but not this winter.

Seriously. The table looks much better cleared which makes it a magnet for clutter.

The Treetops Room.
The Treetops Room before the renovation started.

We have another cluttered area, the Treetops Room, which I dare not show in full.

There are items behind the clutter under the bed but difficult to access.

I have gradually been trying to lose weight and I knew my scales were under the bed it this room blocked by tools, clothes, and papers.

One scale for the master closet and one for the master bathroom?

I asked Charlie to fetch them out of there which he did.  I’m happy to report I have accomplished my January goal of dropping six more pounds a little ahead of schedule.

Have you been working on a project for years? Seeing progress?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.

  1. Congratulations on your weight loss journey! The blue rug looks good in the dining room picture. Are you happy with it?

    1. The rug will do for now. Ultimately it will end up in the Cottage which is painted “Siamese Eyes” in the interior. The quality is not quite right for the house. Jo
