Our shower glass was installed by the  Shower Door King who was recommended to us by the contractor who built the additions on our house.

I went to their website and asked for two estimates which I received by email the next morning.

The process went very quickly.

The process was streamlined by Tracy in their office who called with details on proceeding and answered all my questions. Her boss Al, the owner of SDK, came out the same day to take measurements, that was December 29th. He sent the estimate that same evening.

Then just about 2 and a half weeks later on January 15th two young men, an installer and his helper, came to the house with glass for both showers.

First they were careful to lay down the track on the high point of the bathroom floor since we have a curbless shower.

They proceeded to install the larger of the two first.  Charlie found out that the main technician had been installing glass for 14 years.

The enclosure consists of 3 glass panels.

He was extremely careful to make sure the glass was set in exactly the right spot on our curbless showers.

The shower glass makes the bathroom brighter because it is so reflective. (There is only a round window in the shower, the other one is a reflection.)

I was so excited to see the shower finished when I arrived home from work and was determined to take a shower and wash my hair.

Unfortunately I had to wait 48 hours before touching the glass while waiting for the silicon sealant to set.

The master bath shower is finished except for the window trim. The vanity still needs to be put in place and plumbed.

We had a good experience with Shower Door King and could recommend their products and installation as high quality.

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.

  1. Well, that was definitely a major undertaking both financially and physically. It sounds like you found some good folks thanks to that great contractor you had. It must be a great relief to have the glass done.

    1. Almost everything left is cosmetic which I think I can handle. I tried out the shower this morning and found it to be well-set up in that I can turn it on without getting wet. Jo
