One of Charlie’s Specialties

Charlie had the great idea to make popovers for breakfast.

An easy recipe to make by hand with ingredients that are usually on hand.

He hadn’t made them for awhile and had forgotten exactly how to make them.

They don't look like much but they're light, buttery, and a touch salty.

Happily I searched this blog and found a detailed recipe and instructions for the popovers Charlie made a few years ago.

Add a sprinkle of powdered sugar and popovers are difficult to resist.

They are the most delicious things especially with a little butter and powdered sugar which puts them right over the top.

Do you have plans for New Year’s Eve?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.

  1. My mom used to work at a place called “The Proud Popover” when I was little. She was the chef but she didn’t make them at home very often. I loved it when she did though! She would put honey and butter on them and they were delicious!! Maybe I’ll make some on New Year’s Eve!
