Getting Ready for a Party – Clearing Up

The number one item holding me back from decorating this Christmas was the pile of 18-foot-long trim in the living room, the only place it would fit.

The pile of trim is resting comfortably in the Cottage along with lots of other future projects.

Notice I said “was”. In the dark Charlie and I maneuvered the trim into the Cottage for the rest of the year at least.

This is a good time to show you how our outdoor lights (installed as part of the renovation) light up the yard almost as bright as day.

The wood was in the house in the first place because wood trim like wood floors need to acclimate in the space where they’ll be installed.

So sorry the photos are dim but I won’t be home in daylight until Christmas day.

I'll be happy with some pink roses.

Today I’m getting the flowers.  Pink is the plan.

Are you a traditional holiday colorist? Or do you venture into original combinations?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.
