Wireless Remote — A Second Review

I bought and reviewed a wireless remote which I’ve been using for my bedroom lamp.

I use the remote to turn my bedroom lamp on and off.

I still use it everyday for turning the lamp on and off.

Three separate outlets came with the 3-button remote.

Now I’ve found another use for it which is more remarkable.

This small Christmas tree sits on our side porch.

The little Christmas tree I found here is on our side porch plugged into an outdoor outlet. The only way to turn it on and off was to plug and unplug it.

The remote sits on the porch behind the tree and is controlled from and upstairs bedroom.

Then I got the bright idea that this remote might also be able to control the tree. And from my second floor bedroom when I turn off the light on my side table (button #2) I also turn off the tree (button #1).

The tree is on the porch on the left and the bedroom is a room away behind the second floor window.
The tree is on the porch on the right and the bedroom is a room away behind the second floor window on the new addition.

What a great invention!

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.

  1. that is awesome! i recently bought my first remote 2 weeks ago – it now turns off/on our new hallway christmas lights. it’s sooooo much easier than a timer (which was necessary because the outlet is behind the washing machine) because we can turn them on/off at will versus waiting for the timer to kick in. love the remote control plugs!
