The Rug Arrived Early

As I arrived home Thursday in the middle of the day the UPS delivery man was carrying a rug to my door.

You can tell by the thin roll that this 9' by 12' rug is not very plush.

I dragged it into the living room.

The rug is not too heavy for me to handle.

I couldn’t resist taking a peak.

Looking through the living room to the dining room from the front door the rug looks like it will be a fun addition.

I knew this would be a thin, synthetic rug because I read the reviews on the RugsUSA website.

Love getting big packages delivered to the house.

The back of the rug has a latex coating which I don’t care for but we have a felt pad that’s probably not quite large enough but will certainly suffice.

Blues, greens, and ochre are perfect for the house palette.

I think the color(s) will work well tying the various rooms together.  I don’t care for the large swathes of turquoise but the royal blue, ochre, and green work well.

The rug will go right here after the tillers are finished traipsing through and I've hung all the wallpaper.

Someday I’ll look for a better quality rug but this will give us a colorful floor for this sparkly season. If I do get another rug, this will work great in The Cottage.

Are you expecting a special delivery?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.

  1. I like what I can see of it, Jo. It does look like it will work well in the dining room. I’m waiting for some faux wood blinds for the two large windows of my back porch. I’ve had drop cloth curtains there above the washer and dryer but I think the blinds will be easier to open and close so I can enjoy the view when the sun is not shining in on that end. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

  2. wow i love it! it looks so much better on your floor than it even did on the screen in your first post! love rugsusa. i have ordered so many rugs from them. some are misses, but most are hits.
