The Ghoulishness of a Short and Spooky Goal List

We challenged ourselves in October to finish a short but labor intensive to-do list.

This post is an update of the progress which is considerable but not totally finished.

All the white shingles of the outside of the house need a coat of paint.

Now that the tall ladder is back together we can knock out the last bits of the back of the house.

We’ve painted on the dry days with a 4-inch brush and will continue until most everything is painted.

The old wood trim above the porch was in dire need of paint.

Now the eaves and area under them are completely painted.

Then I’ll power up the paint sprayer to cover items like the oil tank at the back of the house and the various white plastic exhaust vents on the outside of the house.

Rolls of wallpaper still grace the dining room table and not the walls. Ugh.

The dining room wallpaper has been on hold as has the final painting of the paneling and trim.

We have made progress on the master bedroom shelves.

The shelving must be put together in the bedroom.

Here’s a sneak peek of what we accomplished over the weekend.

I’m confident that these projects will be finished soon sooner or later.

Can you believe it’s already November?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.

    1. Since the time change I am no longer leaving the house in the morning when it’s dark. A little sunlight never hurt anyone’s mood. Jo
