Our House Numbers

Back in the planning days for the renovation I had ideas about how things should look.

I've won 2 of these signs: one for the front and one for the side doors.
I’ve won 2 of these signs: one for the front and one for the side doors.

In 2012 I entered a contest to win an enamel sign with our house numbers — I won.

The side porch needs one (or two) sconces.
I plan to hang one of the signs on the side porch. (Can you see it?)

The next year I won another one. Surprisingly, I know right where they are.

The side porch is painted with the new house color, new door color, and bright white trim.

Now that the porches are painted I can finally hang these signs which I’ve been holding onto all that time.

The sign on the porch is held up by Command strips.

I was torn between hanging the sign next to the door (under the porch light) or at the corner of the porch where drivers coming down the street could see it better. I finally decided to put it under the light.

Pardon me, what's your house number? (See below)

Oh, my, I love when a plan comes together.

What’s the best or last thing you won?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.
