Yesterday’s Progress

Another blustery day so no spray painting.  Grrr.

Can't wait to transform this closet into a clothing storage dream -- but I must wait until a floor is installed. Rats!

Instead I gave the master closet a second coat of paint and called it finished for now.

The first fixture.
The first fixture.

Then I climbed up the ladder under the position for the second hall lighting fixture. (We installed the first one here.)

Charlie did the wiring, I screwed the fixture to the ceiling.

Charlie asked me what I was doing and when I told him, “getting ready to install the light” he took over.  He did let me help.

I replaced the standard frosted bulb with clear flame-shaped bulbs. They are invisible when the light is off and cast an interesting pattern when on.

Tra-la-la-la.

A warm air duct is located in the master suite hall.

And I located (in a box in the back bedroom after looking all over the house) the vent cover for the master hall air duct.

I hate painting these grilles -- they never look right to me.

I painted it “Moonlight” before letting Charlie screw it on the wall. (Are you seeing how this works. He’s such a control freak!)

We're leaving the vent cover in the open position.

Baby steps. Oooooh, Baby.

Happy Resurrection Day!

How are you celebrating?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.
