Another Rainy Saturday

The forecast for today’s weather is rain, rain, and more rain.

100% chance of rain, hour after hour.

Unfortunately my plan for today was to finish painting the master suite ceilings.

This ceiling needs a second coat.

I hate painting in the rain.  The only consolation is that I don’t need to count on drying time since everything already has one coat of paint.

Before the floors are tiled the floor outside the shower must be level with the floor inside.

I also want to figure out how much plywood and cement board we will need to put on the conservatory and master bathrooms floors to bring them up to the level of the shower pans.

The bathroom floor needs to be raised to the level of the shower pan.

Leveling those floors is the next step before the shower floors are covered with a Schluter KERDI waterproofing membrane.

Bathroom basketweave floor tile -- white for the conservatory and marble for the master.

Then I can order the tile. THEN I can decide if this is a job for Charlie and me or if we need to hire it out.

And I’m getting my hair cut .  .  . I mean CUT OFF. Yeah!

Saturday plans? More fun than mine?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.
