Another Gallery Wall Only Different

Now that the old doorway of our bedroom is closed up, the hallway on the other side has a long, empty wall.

The wall on the right used to have a doorway right in the middle of it.

This wall used to have a door in the center but now it needs some decoration.
Now it needs some decoration.

I had always planned to hang family photos on this wall and now I’ve gathered them together.

I have family photos for as many as five generations.

My inspiration gallery is two rows of photos, one above and one below an imaginary horizontal line.

Now I just need to make the commitment.

Portraits from the 1960s when photos were hand-colored.
Sister portraits from the 1960s when photos were hand-colored.

This gallery is just for the family, you know. (My first gallery is here.)

Do you have private belongings that are only meaningful to you?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.

  1. Some lovely pictures. Whenever i do a gallery wall i go and photocopy the pictures in their frames, cut them out and then blu tac them to the wall until i get it right, otherwise it takes me an aggggggggeeeee to decide!

  2. i love that arrangement and I hope you can get it right. My baby picture is colored also LOL, I guess that ages me. I wish I had more wall space…and to answer your question no one ever even noticed my photos when I had them up nor when I took them all down. 😦

  3. You really have lovely treasures. One of my favorite parts of estate sales is peering at the lovely family photos that adorn the walls. I can’t wait to see your completed gallery wall.
