Move This Here and That There

I told you here I was getting seriously started on decluttering various parts of the house. I started in the unfinished conservatory closet.

The Conservatory's future closet is loaded with unused kitchen cabinets, our music system, and boxes of supplies and tools.

Following the “Cut the Clutter” emails and posts of Chrissy Halton at Organise My House I made my labels and covered the dining room table with items from the closet.

Lots of items ended up in the "mend" pile.

We’re saving 3 misordered kitchen cabinets from the kitchen renovation because they’re nice and sturdy and  could possibly be used some place upstairs.  For now they’re taking up space in the dining room.

We have one white wall cabinet, one grey wall cabinet, and a smaller grey floor cabinet (turned sideways in the photo).

After the closet was completely empty I had a great idea.

Everything is out of the closet.
Everything is out of the closet.

Let’s finish it and paint it before loading it up with the building clutter from the bathroom.  The closet can’t actually be trimmed out until the floor is laid.

I’m planning on fitting out the closet with 2 sets of doors like the mudroom closet.

The mudroom closet.

But I digress.

In order to put the items from the conservatory bathroom into the closet, first I must empty the closet.
Once the closet is painted most of this stuff will hide out in there until the bathroom is finished.

This stuff from the bathroom will surely fit into the closet especially when I get rid of the unwanted items.

What subject do you digress on?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.
