Last Long-Distance Gift

I purchased the last of the gifts I need not only to wrap but also to box up and mail.

The gifts I ordered from WalMart.com came in a smashed box. Grrrgh!

I know my sister reads this blog so I can’t give too many hints. I will say that I bought myself the same gift I got her.

I hope this doesn't give it away!

I made a special project for my niece and her new husband.

A book in a book. Hmmm.

Finally my brother-in-law’s present hasn’t changed in decades.  The only thing that changes is the color and even that isn’t really a surprise since we’re trying to keep it Christmasy. I even tried Japanese-style gift wrapping at which I was a total failure.  Check it out for real here.

A little tape and a label and it's on its way.

Off to the post office.

How’s your gift buying coming along?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.
