Curtains Rods Are Up in the Living Room

Yes, we hung 2 curtain rods.

I bought 2 sets of pewter curtain rods at J C Penney for this project.

It only took two adults 2 hours with a dinner break in between.

We measured the brackets 6 inches down from the cornice molding and 60" apart.

I didn’t want to start sewing the curtains without having the rods in place.

One down.
One down.

Not exactly sure why but I think it will be helpful.

Woo-hoo.

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.

  1. Too funny. I think we have all been there. I recently had “issues” hanging the new bathroom mirrors…after drilling about 15 holes & not being able to make it level, I finally realized the hooks on the mirror weren’t level! Argh!! Can’t wait to see your finished look , but for now the rods look great πŸ˜‰

    1. The least professional hook installers could do is put them on straight and level. After all they’re pros and we’re unskilled DIYers. We need all the help possible. P.S. Under one of our rod brackets there might be an extraneous hole. “A test hole, your honor.” Jo
