A Few Fall Photos

I have been thinking about changing the blog’s masthead photograph and so I went out in the yard and took a few pictures.

It’s interesting how quickly the scene can change based on the weather and the lighting.

I have always had a shot of the front of the house looking up from the dead-end of the street as the header.

The current (now previous) photo is kind of gloomy due to the bareness of the winter trees.

I tried to capture as much of the house as I could while providing a little color.

The uncropped photo gives a better indication of the scale of the neighborhood trees.

Hope you enjoy the updated header.

Are you making any changes?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.

  1. I like your new header because it has more color and leaves, but my favorite photo is the “morning sun” one. I think it captures the feeling of “glade” perfectly. I can understand that you might want a front view, not the back, though.

    1. Thanks, D’Arcy. I’ll keep working on just the right photo. It amazed me how the different light made the same photo soooo different. I guess I’m no Monet. Jo
