Window Washing on Another Network

I’m hardly ever actually pictured in this blog: my blog and I take the pictures. Charlie is often the brunt of my photographic skills.

How hilarious is it that Charlie borrowed my tie-dye glasses to work on the details?

But earlier this week I was contacted by HouseLogic.com because they wanted to use a photo of me washing windows.

I signed a release and here I am. Charlie actually took this picture.

Is this my better side, Mr. DeMille?

The website that borrowed it flipped it. Maybe that’s my better side.

The windows in the laundry are in desperate need of washing. Let me get right on that.

Thanks for the reminder that my windows really need cleaning, she said facetiously.

What fall chores are you totally not up for?

Welcome to The Glade, where the second generation of renovations has just begun and the mania about our home, music and other passions fill our days and nights. We’re Charlie and Jo in the music world; Mary Jo and Charles to family; and JoJo and Charlie to each other. We are renovating a midcentury house in a Victorian historic district where we want to live there the rest of our lives. It's a 1946 house located in Maryland. We were married in this house. Thus far (pre-blog) we refinished cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushion), rearranged a wall in the guest house due to sink/vanity replacement, planted a vegetable garden, and other quick and not-so-quick fixes. So this latest zeal for construction is the result of my having lived here since 1997 and feeling a need to ready the house for the next chapter and beyond.

  1. Stupid question alert…..did you say dishwasher detergent ??? do you dissolve a dishwasher tablet in water then use that as a window cleaner I’m beyond curious

    1. Dishwasher detergent is supposed to clean glasses and it does a good job on windows. I use the powdered kind dissolved in hot water. I don’t know why a tablet wouldn’t also work. Jo

  2. we live in a new construction sub that they’re still building in so the dirt and dust is CRAZY in the summers. We’ve lived here 3 years and haven’t cleaned the windows once lol. I’m going to pay someone to clean them next spring because I don’t feel like dealing with it and we have a two story house haha.

    1. It really takes an army to clean windows but the difference is alarming. I think I need to clean my car windshield, too. I notice it when the sun hits it a certain way. Jo
