I told you here that one of my favorite personal items is Shalimar perfume by Guerlain. In Paris La Maison Guerlain, the flagship store, is at 68, Avenue de Champs Elysees. This place is definitely worth a visit.
Charlie and I walked into the compact shop which smelled heavenly, not perfumey, just fragrant. After being greeted by a salesperson we walked straight ahead up a gold-tiled staircase to the floor where they house exclusive scents only available at this main store in Paris.
There were ladies sitting at a table preparing special order bottles of perfume as people waited for them.
My favorite exclusive scent (besides Shalimar) was Spiriteuse Double Vanille. Charlie really liked Cuir Beluga. Both scents only came in 75 ml bottles for the mere price of 175 euros ($235) each. As much as we would have liked it there was just no way we’d buy that much perfume.
Helping us was a lovely young vendeuse named Jade. I told her I would like to see the eye shadow collection. In grey.
She took us to the other side of the store where the make-up collection is housed. We considered all the grey collections and chose the one with a charcoal grey and a true blue accent color, Place Vendome. These are really my colors.
Jade applied a light grey near the nose, a charcoal grey on the outside of the eyelid, and the bright blue between the two.
She finished both eyes and added a touch of mascara.
I fell for it and bought the eye shadow which comes in a beautiful reticulated silver compact. ( It is lovely but I might have to frame it like a piece of art considering the price.)
Oh, and, Charlie fell for me.
We had just a great time at Maison Guerlain. Jade was a treat and maybe someday we’ll get one of those EXCLUSIVE scents.
