The framers added the new roof over the two-story addition which buts into the original bedroom roof. So far the old roof in this attic area has not been removed.
Also the framers put some tar paper over the old roof in sections adjacent to the new roof. I wasn’t sure whether this was temporary or permanent so I called our contractor to clarify that the ENTIRE OLD ROOF is being removed. He assuaged my fears and said yes the new roof will NOT be laid over the old one. So two days later the roofers have not returned to the job. Hmmmm!
In the mean time we have had a delivery of shingles and roofing products.
In the interest of making the job easier the shingles were delivered directly to the rooftop.
Charlie and I went up to take a look and found a flattened area where the front roof connects to the new back roof to allows sufficient drainage. This flattened area also allows easier access to our extremely steep roof.
I know removing the old roof is going to be messy but I don’t want this old fungus-ridden roof trapped under new shingles.
I’m pretty sure the roofers didn’t count on the inspection team of Charlie and Jo.
